Job Overview
Assists with valuation/financial reporting and analysis for the US Individual Health Division of RGA and delivering reports in a timely fashion to meet internal client needs.Contributes to the maintenance and enhancement of the financial forecasting infrastructure and analytic foundation by developing/maintaining/automating actuarial data, assumptions, models, and processes used not only for valuation, but also to support unbiased planning, reporting, economic capital refinement, embedded value calculation, capital planning, cash flow testing, and other such uses. Provides general valuation, financial analysis, and project assistance and interacts with other RGA departments and offices to ensure that department work products are portrayed correctly, understood, and completed in a timely fashion.
Responsibilities
- Performs detailed GAAP, Statutory, and Tax valuation work for assigned business, ensures these items are appropriately documented and posted, and assists with communication of financial analytics and results in terms of major drivers of variance.
- Develops programs and spreadsheets (SQL, Excel, Alteryx, PowerBI…) to automate repetitive tasks, to improve analytical capabilities, and to assist with identifying and executing changing requirements and adapting to maintain compliance.
- Collaborates with other valuation, pricing, administration, systems, accounting, audit, and finance associates.
- Follows, identifies, implements, and enhances governance and control infrastructure
- Assures quality documentation of all projects, work products, and procedures.
- Maintains regular and predictable attendance.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Math, Economics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, or Computer Science or related field
- 1-3 years of experience in a business environment working with data analysis or statistical modeling
- Actively pursuing actuarial designations with credit for 2 or more exams
- Intermediate database applications (Access, SQL/Query, VBA or equivalent technology) skills
- Advanced Excel skills
- Intermediate math skills
- Must be flexible and adaptive to change
- Ability to set goals, multitask and prioritize workload
- Ability to share and impart knowledge
- Advanced oral and written communication skills
- Complex analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to balance detail with departmental goals/objectives
- Working knowledge of actuarial, finance and present value concepts
- Working knowledge of insurance, accounting and reinsurance concepts
- Ability to work independently
- Ability to work well within a team environment and participate in department projects
- Ability to foster customer service as needed
- Familiarity with statistical analysis tools (R and/or SAS)
Preferred
- Progress toward Actuarial Exams
- Experience with VBA or SQL programming
- Experience with actuarial projection software
- Competent in Prophet
- Ability to program in Alteryx, SQL, PowerBI, or equivalent
- Competent understanding of key insurance-related concepts, including long term care, life & annuity products, reinsurance contracts, and basic GAAP, Statutory, and tax accounting principles.
- Knowledge of econometric modeling or comparable statistical models within a business context

Compensation Range:
$63,400.00 - $90,050.00 Annual
Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
