The Actuary, Americas Data Solutions develops mortality and morbidity research for RGA's Americas region. Provides critical actuarial expertise into population mortality and morbidity trends and insurance implications for key stakeholders, including management, pricing teams, valuation teams, risk teams, and clients. Provides guidance and recommendations on future population and insured mortality and morbidity views.
This role is open to remote candidates.
Responsibilities
- Lead mortality and morbidity research across Americas business units through management of appropriate committees and working groups
- Coordinate collaboration on mortality and morbidity insights across Americas business units through regular communications
- Monitor population mortality and morbidity trends, review new studies, and educate stakeholders on insights
- Develop mortality improvement assumption and post-pandemic excess claims guidance for Americas business units
- Serve as an expert through internal presentations, client meetings, industry meetings, and external thought leadership
- Lead projects on current and emerging topics of interest to RGA or clients, including mortality and morbidity research, industry studies, third party data insights, statistical analysis, and data analytics
- Foster and energize positive collaboration with key stakeholders, such as pricing, business development, underwriting, global data analytics, global risk, external clients, etc.
- Participates in special projects, committees, meetings and client presentations as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Math, Finance, Actuarial Sciences, Statistics or related field
- FSA accreditation
- 7+ years of actuarial experience in life insurance and/or reinsurance
- Advanced actuarial technical skills
- Highly advanced knowledge of life insurance products
- Intermediate PC skills and intermediate understanding of actuarial systems - including spreadsheet, database, and actuarial tools
- Intermediate to advanced understanding of reinsurance concepts and methods
- Advanced ability to model various insurance products and reinsurance structures
- Intermediate ability to challenge and enhance analytical capabilities
- Intermediate understanding of GAAP, statutory and tax accounting and reporting
- Highly advanced oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to convey business terminology that is meaningful and well received
- Highly advanced investigative, analytical and problem solving skills
- Expert ability to balance detail with departmental goals/objectives
- Advanced skills in customer relationship management and change management
- Highly advanced ability to translate business needs and problems into viable/accepted solutions
- Highly advanced ability to manage multiple projects and/or teams simultaneously
- Highly advanced ability to liaise with individuals across a wide variety of operational, functional, and technical disciplines
- Highly advanced persuasion and negotiation skills when working with internal/external customers
- Adaptable, self-starting, and team-oriented
Preferred:
- Intermediate knowledge of mortality improvement modeling techniques
- Familiarity with database applications.
- Advanced life insurance and/or reinsurance industry and product knowledge.

The general pay range for this position is $132,430 - $202,455 per year. Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles, and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
