Regional Valuation Actuary (Asia Regional Valuation)

Position Overview

Reporting to the Deputy Regional Head of Valuation for Asia, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing support and oversight to the Asian region on US GAAP financial reporting and analysis, Prophet model development, experience studies, embedded value reporting, business planning and various other global and regional initiatives. Depending on task allocation within the team, the role will also involve in assignment such as IFRS 17 implementation and review production, process improvements and short-term local market secondment.

Responsibilities

  • Support production of the quarterly US GAAP results and annual business plan, as well as US Stat, US Tax, local regulatory and local FRS for assigned markets;
  • Analysis of quarterly US GAAP results against business plan for assigned markets;
  • Support and guidance to aspects and results of IFRS 17 in Asia;
  • Support aspects of local markets' implementation of regulatory capital changes;
  • Review of embedded value and economic capital results in the region;
  • Provide Prophet modelling assistance or review for the region, in particular for new treaty implementations, model refinements and building capability to project new product features;
  • Identify and design strategic enhancements to improve the efficiency and usability of Prophet models in the region;
  • Lead regional initiatives to improve consistency of reporting throughout the region;
  • Identify and lead implementation of improvements to process controls in the region;
  • Provide training and guidance to the region on existing and emerging reporting bases;
  • Lead valuation initiatives in the region as needed and called upon.



Requirements

  • Qualified fellows with at least 7 years' working experience in life insurance/reinsurance companies;
  • Hands on valuation experience, in particular IFRS17;
  • Prophet modeling experience;
  • Strong analytical and data management skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; and
  • Highly motivated, conceptual thinker who is able to collaborate in a team environment or work independently and take a leadership role in a wide variety of assignments.
