This role will contribute to the development, improvement, and governance of the company's ALM model assumption management framework focused on the ALS library within the Prophet actuarial software. Assignments will include supporting the development of a governance framework, identifying, and promoting best practices for assumption setting, documentation, and implementation, and facilitating the standardization, updating, and application of these assumptions within actuarial frameworks. Supported initiatives may include ALM, asset modeling, PBR, cash flow testing, corporate planning, consolidated reporting and more. This role will work closely and collaborate with the Global Modeling, Global Valuation, Global Risk, and Investments teams. This high-profile role within the Consolidated Reporting area of Global Valuation involves exposure to the company's global product portfolio and extensive interaction with associates in other departments and offices.

Responsibilities

  • Principal duties and responsibilities include:
  • Serve as a resource for the continued improvement of the formal ALS model assumption governance framework
  • Coordinate and contribute to the development, documentation, maintenance, and enhancement of processes, procedures, and controls associated with ALM assumption management
  • Develops expertise across all aspects of ALS assumptions application and acts as a go-to resource for troubleshooting and answering questions coming from the reporting/analysis teams on these assumptions and their uses
  • Serves as a liaison with other lines of business and company functions/departments to promote improvement in valuation and financial analysis for assigned business
  • Develop and execute project plans to meet department goals
  • Participate in department or cross-functional projects as needed and called upon
  • Maintain regular and predictable attendance and perform other duties as required



Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Math, Finance, Statistics, or a related field
  • FSA accreditation
  • 6+ years of actuarial experience in the life insurance industry
  • Advanced experience with Prophet including the Asset Liability Strategy (ALS) library
  • Advanced PC and technical skills, including database applications (Access, Oracle, SQL or equivalent technology), spreadsheets, and pivot tables
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to convey complex ideas in a way that is understandable by all stakeholders
  • Advanced interpersonal skills, demonstrating the ability to work effectively with different disciplines, including valuation, risk management, investments, finance, accounting, and information technology
  • Advanced investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of life, health, and annuity products
  • Knowledge of GAAP, Statutory and Tax valuation, and financial reporting
  • Ability to work well both independently and within a team environment
  • Ability to simultaneously contribute to multiple projects and meet agreed deadlines
  • Ability to balance detail with department goals and objectives



Preferred

  • Reinsurance experience
  • Experience with US GAAP long-duration targeted improvements and/or IFRS 17
  • Advanced project management skills, demonstrating an ability to leverage various resources and tools to reach a common goal
  • Intermediate ability to use data visualization/workflow tools, such as Tableau and Alteryx
  • Experience as a Product Owner or with supporting IT development from the business side
  • Reinsurance industry and product knowledge
  • Familiarity with life insurance company financial statements
  • Reinsurance industry and product knowledge

Compensation Range:
$111,860.00 - $171,025.00 Annual

Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
