Position Overview
This role will support US Individual Life (USIL) entering a new market focused on universal life products.As a pricing actuary position, responsibilities will include coding products and transaction structures into actuarial pricing software, evaluating the impact of key actuarial risks and assumptions, and communicating results.Key attributes needed to help RGA succeed in this new growth area will include creativity, flexibility, and an entrepreneurial mindset.
Responsibilities
- Perform or assist with modeling of projected liability and asset exposures and other activities related to USIL universal life coinsurance opportunities (or other business as assigned), with a focus on balancing completeness and accuracy with speed and efficiency.
- Assist in the evaluation of existing and proposed actuarial assumptions, reviewing and/or developing appropriate sensitivity tests, key assumption scenarios, and projected financial results, providing meaningful interpretation of the analyses to department management and other key stakeholders.
- Assist in developing client deliverables under firm deadlines, including data requests, RFP responses, and supplemental communications.
- Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of framework, standards, and processes to enable these activities, especially in regard to modeling and assumption setting.
- Document the pricing analysis memorandum including the model development, assumptions used, key risks, experience analysis performed, key treaty terms, and results analysis.
- Maintain a consistent client-focus, both internally and externally.Foster positive relationships with USIL management and other RGA stakeholders such as Investments, Finance, Legal, and Valuation.Represent RGA well to clients and the industry.
- Support the USIL pricing team, such as performing technical and peer reviews, as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Sciences, Economics, Finance, Math, Statistics or related field
- FSA accreditation
- 6+ years of actuarial experience in life insurance and/or reinsurance
- Highly advanced PC skills, including spreadsheet, database, and actuarial projection tools (e.g., AXIS, TAS, MoSes, Prophet)
- Demonstrated knowledge of individual life insurance products, pricing, and markets
- Understanding of life reinsurance concepts and methods
- Advanced ability to model various insurance products and reinsurance structures
- Understanding of GAAP, statutory and tax accounting and reporting and other forms of financial measurement such as embedded value
- Knowledge of regulatory and economic required capital frameworks
- Advanced oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to foster relationships and present to colleagues and other industry professionals
- Demonstrated ability to investigative problems, weigh trade-offs of potential solutions, and present recommendations
- Advanced ability to adapt to changing requirements, keep composure under conflicting directions, and maintain focus on key objectives
- Project planning skills such as identifying key tasks and setting achievable timelines
Preferred
- Member, American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA)
- Chartered Enterprise Risk Analyst (CERA)
- Reinsurance industry experience
- ALM or risk management experience
- Universal life product pricing and/or valuation experience
- Advanced knowledge of AXIS, including the universal life, asset, and reinvestment modules
- Advanced knowledge of universal life insurance products, sales, pricing, and valuation
- Advanced understanding of reinsurance concepts and methods for complex liabilities
- Understanding of asset modeling techniques (including derivatives) and capital markets approaches
- Ability to take ownership in projects and help drive them to completion, including setting appropriate goals, coordinating resources, properly assessing risks, resolving issues, and communicating to key stakeholders in an appropriate and timely manner

Compensation Range:
$111,860.00 - $171,025.00 Annual
Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
