Position Overview

Provide support for the actuarial work and analysis of the US Individual Life inforce block. Such support might include historical analysis of financials/cash flows, understanding experience study results, validating and modifying projection models, and assessing potential risks and financial impacts of potential management actions. Communicate the findings and recommendations in a professional manner and preparing materials that will be shared with internal management and/or clients to inform and enable decision making.

Responsibilities

  • Perform or provide support for ad hoc analyses to increase understanding of block performance characteristics or financial risk exposure, reviewing and/or developing actuarial assumptions, sensitivity tests, financial models, and projections.
  • Assist with proposing and/or evaluating potential management actions by performing risk analyses to assess the impact on current and future overall financials, risk exposure, and other business considerations.
  • Summarize and communicate findings, results, and contextual information with clear and impactful messaging appropriate to audience and purpose.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation and perform peer reviews as needed.
  • Work with others in the team and/or other departments to ensure appropriate analyses, key deliverables, and related, necessary actions are completed in a timely manner, as determined by project and business needs.
  • Foster positive relationships, collaborate, and communicate professionally with key stakeholders and business partners.
  • Participate in special projects, committees, meetings, and presentations with internal or external audiences as needed.



Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Arts/Sciences (BA/BS) Math, Finance, Actuarial Sciences, Economics, Statistics, or Related Field required
  • Master's degree in Arts/Sciences (MA/MS) Math, Finance, Actuarial Sciences, Economics, Statistics, or Related Field preferred
  • 3+ Years actuarial experience in life insurance/reinsurance. Continuing to write actuarial exams with a view to completing Fellowship Required
  • Advanced PC and technical skills, including database applications (Alteryx, Tableau, Snowflake, Access, Oracle, SQL or equivalent technology), spreadsheets, statistical programs and actuarial software. Required
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills. Required
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Required
  • Confidence in taking verbal instructions and translating it into programmable outcomes. Required
  • Ability to compile, analyze, refine, and interpret large amounts of financial data/results and model projections. Required
  • Competent knowledge and understanding of actuarial concepts. Required
  • Experience with life, health, and/or annuity products. Required
  • Ability to work independently and to work well within a team environment and participate in department projects. Preferred
  • Experience with Prophet, and/or AXIS (or equivalent actuarial software). Preferred
  • ASA - Associate of the Society of Actuaries Required
  • MAAA Preferred

Compensation Range:
$93,330.00 - $143,500.00 Annual

Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
